Mixing

Solve quality concerns in injection molding or extrusion? Increase productivity of your plant? Save costs? Talk to the market leader for static mixer solutions in the plastics industry!

How does Static Mixing work
Static mixing is the mixing of liquids without moving parts. A static mixer uses tubular internals of intersecting bars to achieve the desired mixing and dispersion effect as the melt flows through the motionless mixing elements.

Promix static mixer solutions are designed to balance melt homogeneity and temperature gradients very effectively at low shear stress and minimal pressure drop. Further positive aspects are short installation length and maintenance-free operation.

Foaming

Promix specializes in physical foaming in extrusion. Depending on the application, foamed polymers offer a wide range of advantages.

Promix foam extrusion uses environmentally friendly nitrogen and CO2 blowing agents to introduce a microcellular foam structure into the extruded component. The main focus is on saving raw material costs. In the case of Light Foams and Particle Foams, the focus is on functional aspects such as thermal insulation, weight savings or stiffness.

What all applications have in common is that very uniform and fine-cell foam structures have significantly better properties than inhomogeneous, coarse-cell foams. With the development of Promix Microcell Extrusion, the company has succeeded in setting new standards in the field of fine cellularity and foam homogeneity. The technology combines unique key components, novel nucleation additives and process engineering know-how.

Cooling

Promix specializes in demanding cooling and heat exchanger tasks. These include the cooling of viscous media or media that are sensitive to degradation.

Melt cooler and heat exchanger – the challenge
Due to the increase in viscosity caused during cooling, the fluids to be cooled tend to adhere and form deposits on the cooling surfaces. This leads to long residence times and product degradation (fouling). Since the introduction of Promix P1 cooling mixer technology, these problems are a thing of the past. The cooling mixer technology, which was developed using state-of-the-art CFD methods, is now being used in more and more areas of application.

The technology, which was originally developed for plastics processing, is now also being used successfully in fiber and polymer production, chemical, pharmaceutical, and food production. In addition to cooling, the technology is also well suited for heating fluids that are residence time critical and sensitive to decomposition.

Promix Melt Coolers and Heat Exchangers improve your process
• Very high cooling capacity and precise temperature control of the melt at the outlet
• No deposits and decomposition thanks to optimum flow profile
• Narrow residence time spectrum
• Short installation length
• Low pressure drop

Mixer Injection Molding

Quality problems in injection molding are often solved by modifying the process parameters. Masterbatch concentration and back pressure must be increased, which makes production costs more expensive. This does not have to be the case! Mixing Nozzles from Promix ensure excellent melt homogeneity. Color streaks or irregularly distributed additives in the component are a thing of the past.

Mixing nozzles and static mixers for injection molding – Improve your process now!
Color streaks, surface defects, weak weld lines, part warpage? You can solve many of your current problems in a fast and cost-effective way without interrupting production. Explore the hidden potential for further process optimization. Reduce your masterbatch costs by up to 30% or shorten your cycle time.

The static mixer is installed directly in the nozzle of the injection molding machine. When replacing the existing nozzle with a mixing nozzle, you can rely on an experienced partner. Mixing nozzles for the most common injection molding machines are in stock with us and can be delivered within 1 to 2 weeks.

Mixing nozzles from Promix® offer numerous advantages
• 20–30% less masterbatch consumption
• Elimination of flow lines or color streaks
• Excellent distribution of additives
• Tighter tolerances
• Higher admixture of regranulate
• Shorter cycle times

Mixer Extrusion

Insufficient surface quality, long cooling times, uneven thickness tolerances or other quality problems often limit maximum production output. Promix melt blenders eliminate these limitations sustainably and lead to significant cost savings.

Melt blenders for extrusion – melt homogeneity pays off!
Would you like to optimize your extrusion process? Improved melt homogeneity and a more uniform melt temperature create tighter thickness tolerances and better surface quality. And quite often, it can also increase production throughput. Promix offers you highly effective static mixers and melt blenders at low
investment costs.

They are supplied ready for installation, including heater bands and holes for pressure and temperature sensors. The melt blenders are usually installed downstream of the screen changer & gear pump, and upstream of the die. The very short installation length allows easy retrofitting in existing extrusion lines.

Promix® melt blenders offer numerous advantages
• Higher throughput
• Excellent distribution of additives
• Consistent quality and optimal melt flow into the die
• Elimination of flow lines
• Homogeneous temperature and flow velocity
• Inline viscosity measurement for real-time quality control of raw material and process conditions (add-on
  package)
